Acura ADX: A Premium SUV Packed with Style

Defining ‘premium’ through technology

For a vehicle to be considered premium, it must offer a long list of advanced, state-of-the-art features for safety, comfort and convenience. This is why Acura confidently labels its new ADX ‘premium’, with the compact SUV delivering features typically found in larger and more expensive vehicles. While the ADX serves as the gateway to Acura’s lineup of SUVs, it excels in delivering advanced technology. Take a look at some of the key features of this brand-new premium SUV.

Making winter more comfortable

With AWD and an Integrated Dynamics System, you know the ADX is engineered to perform in the snow and ice. But what about you? Acura hasn’t forgotten about the driver and passengers when it comes to the winter months; every ADX comes standard with premium features that are designed to help make the winter drive safer and more comfortable. Outside, the front wiper de-icer, rear defroster, and heated, power adjusting side mirrors will help keep the view clear. And inside, the heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control will help keep passengers warm.

Bringing the outside in

Standard on every ADX is the giant, panoramic moonroof. Spanning almost the entire roof of the vehicle, it also opens to the elements when you want to feel the fresh air through your hair, just with the push of a button. Another button activates a sliding privacy screen for when the sun gets to be a bit too much.

Bang & Olufsen® Premium sound system

Audiophiles will appreciate the immersive experience of this sound system, developed exclusively for the top-of-the-line Acura ADX Platinum Elite A-SPEC™. With an 8.8-inch subwoofer, 16-channel amplifier, 15 speakers and Acoustic Lens Technology, this system also features Beosonic™ one-touch sound control interface with four distinct audio moods: Bright, Energetic, Warm, and Relaxed. Laser-etched aluminum speaker covers with the Bang & Olufsen® logo complete the premium package.

AcuraWatch®: the electronic safety net

This suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies is engineered to help increase situational awareness, aid in accident prevention, and help make driving safer and more comfortable. The ADX features 11 different systems (12 with the ADX Platinum Elite A-SPEC™) within AcuraWatch® that are designed to work in tandem to act like an extra set of eyes and, in some cases, even take over in an emergency. These features include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, Blind Spot Information and Land Adaptive Cruise Control, among others. The Platinum Elite A-SPEC™ also gets Front and Rear Low-Speed Automatic Emergency Braking.

Even more eyes on the road

The ADX Platinum Elite A-SPEC™ adds some extra help for the driver when manoeuvring in tighter spaces. Parking sensors four in the front, four in the rear will help when pulling into a spot. And for even more visibility, a surround view camera system uses several exterior cameras designed to give you a 360° view around your ADX, right on the centre display. You’ll find this useful on a tight cottage trail or in a packed mall parking lot.

Keeping you connected

A 10.2-inch Acura Precision Cockpit™ digital instrument cluster for the driver and a central nine-inch touchscreen display are there to keep you connected with your ADX and the outside world. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, Wi-Fi hotspot, a wireless smartphone charger and two USB-C ports there’s also a manual volume knob for convenience. The ADX A-SPEC™ and ADX Platinum Elite A-SPEC™ add two more charge ports in the rear, with the latter also featuring Alexa built-in and Google built-in with a complimentary three-month/3GB subscription. Every ADX also comes with a year’s subscription to AcuraLink, which utilizes a smartphone app for various features such as unlocking your ADX doors and accessing a personal concierge.

A quiet cabin

To make the cabin a more serene and tranquil place to spend the journey, Acura has employed several solutions to combat road noise. Some, like insulated glass, sound-insulating carpet, acoustical spray foam insulation, and sound-absorbing fender liners are more conventional, but it also uses Active Noise Control to electronically cancel out wind, road and powertrain noise using the vehicle’s own speakers. The 19-inch wheels found on the ADX A-SPEC™ and ADX Platinum Elite A-SPEC™ also get resonators to dampen the din.

When you purchase a vehicle, your expectations are high, and it’s obvious that Acura understands that when it comes to the ADX compact SUV. Whether you’re looking to move up to a luxury vehicle or looking to downsize without giving up the comfort and features you’re used to, the ADX has the advanced technology you’d expect from a premium SUV.
